World Congress of Compatriots Living Abroad gathered Representatives from 102 Countries

On October 15-16, 2021, Moscow hosted the VII World Congress of Compatriots Living Abroad under the slogan "Russia and Compatriots in a Changing World". The official delegation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly - the General Secretary of the Assembly Andrey Yuryevich Belyaninov, First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat Assembly Svetlana Konstantinovna Smirnova, Deputy Secretary General for International Cooperation Yulia Igorevna Petrova and Deputy Secretary General for the preservation of historical memory Valery Davydovich Ruzin took part in the Congress.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Victorovich Lavrov opened the Congress. He read out a welcoming message of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the participants and guests of the Congress. The message said:

"Support of compatriots, assistance in the implementation of significant projects in education, culture, social security are invariably among the most important national priorities."

The Congress emphasized the irreplaceable role of non-governmental organizations in strengthening the comprehensive partnership of compatriots with Russia, preserving the Russian language and ethno-cultural identity. This testifies to the recognition of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly as a partner activity aimed at promoting unshakable values, strengthening the bonds of friendship and interethnic good neighborliness.

The Congress discussed topical issues related to the protection of the rights of compatriots, the preservation of common historical memory, the role of compatriots in the development of interaction between Russian regions and foreign countries, as well as the involvement of representatives of the younger generation in the activity.

About 400 activists of public associations of compatriots and prominent representatives of the Russian diaspora from 102 countries of the world attended the event.
