Representation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly: Bashkortostan is working to Restore the Consumer Co-Operative System

The Bashpotrebsoyuz intends to restore consumer cooperation in every region of the republic. Vener Ilyasov, Chairman of the Board of the Bashpotrebsoyuz, Partner, Member of the Expert Council of the Representation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in the Republic of Bashkortostan, spoke about this.

Bashpotrebsoyuz unites 118 organizations, almost 12 thousand shareholders, 1280 real estate objects. It manages 424 stores of various formats, 93 public catering facilities for five thousand seats - these are cafes, snack bars, cookery and even several restaurants, receiving and procurement points, production workshops, household plants that provide services to the population, trade bases and markets and a lot more. Initially, consumer cooperation was a formative industry for many municipalities and there were cooperatives in all regions of Bashkortostan without exception, the expert said.

As Vener Zakievich noted, work is now underway to revive local cooperation: buildings are being put in order, equipment is being purchased, shops are being modernized, space is being leased, including to large retailers. There are new industries, as a result, and jobs. Young specialists for the industry are trained in three educational institutions - the Bashkir Cooperative Institute, technical schools in Ufa and Birsk, in a cooperative class in the Bizhbulyaksky district.
