The Representative Office of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in the Sverdlovsk Region, as part of the Russian-Chinese EXPO, presented the International Exhibition "Language of the Ancient Sea". The event was held on July 10 - 13 this year in Yekaterinburg on the sidelines of the International Exhibition INNOPROM. The project is aimed at developing cultural diplomacy between Russia and China and was created on the initiative of the “Idea” Social Activity Foundation, the Yekaterinburg Academy of Contemporary Art. Zelimkhan Mutsoev, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, supported the initiative.
Russian students, participants of the “Marble Mile: Career Growth” project, shot more than 300 images of Ural marble patterns, digitized the resulting images and sent them to colleagues from Shenyan University in China. Chinese students were able to see the coincidence of natural patterns on the surface of the stone with Chinese characters. This is how a photo project with calligraphy components appeared. Texts for the photo exhibition in Chinese and Russian were prepared by the Confucius Institute in Yekaterinburg.
Opening the exhibition, the Head of the Representative Office of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Elmira Samokhina noted: "The joint creative activity of students has become an incentive for long-term cooperation, which will include students from other Chinese and Russian universities."
The Minister of Culture of the Sverdlovsk Region Svetlana Uchaikina, in her speech at the opening of the exhibition, noted that the upcoming 2024 and 2025 will become joint years of culture between Russia and China - this decision was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, emphasizing that nothing strengthens and unites peoples like cultural ties.
