December 24. Representatives of the Assembly and the Vernadsky Foundation held a Work Meeting

On December 24, in Moscow at the headquarters of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, Andrey Belyaninov, Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly and Olga Plyamina, Director General of the Vernadsky Non-Governmental Ecological Foundation held a working meeting.

As a result of the meeting, the following agreements were reached.

The Ecological Foundation will participate in the World Public Summit of the Assembly in 2022 under the sessions on education and ecology.

In 2021, the Assembly and the Foundation will hold an International environmental marathon, continue to implement the project “Eurasian Forest” in the Sholokhov House-Museum, and organize joint thematic international events under the auspices of the Commission for UNESCO.

The organizations will implement projects that are consistent with the goals of sustainable environmentally oriented socio-economic development of society, its responsible attitude to the natural and cultural heritage of the countries of the Eurasian space.

The meeting was also attended by:

  • Svetlana Smirnova - First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly;
  • Andrey Cheshev - Deputy Director of the Vernadsky Foundation for International Affairs;
  • Yulia Petrova - Deputy Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly for International Cooperation;
  • Tatiana Augustinova - Head of educational programs of the Vernadsky Foundation;
  • Kira Kovnat - Head of the Department for Interaction with International organizations of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly;
  • Svetlana Tagieva - Head of the Department of Science and Education, Head of the Project Office of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly.

Remind, on December 24 the Assembly and the Foundation signed a cooperation agreement. The document became a logical extension of the organizations' working relationship. At the end of 2020, the Assembly and the Foundation participated in events dedicated to the Day of Russian Science, in the preparation of an educational webinar for teachers hosted by the Foundation and “Rosenergoatom” Concern JSC. In addition, the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly supports the scientific research conferences for schoolchildren on environmental education and the development of the projects “Forest Pearl of Eurasia”, “Literary Path”. The Foundation implements these projects in cooperation with the Museum of M.A. Sholokhov and “GazpromTransgazVolgograd”.

Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly

The Eurasian Peoples' Assembly is an international non-governmental organization aimed at the formation of integration in the name of establishing peace and consent through the development of multilateral cooperation and public (people's) diplomacy in the Eurasian space. Currently, the Assembly brings together representatives from over 40 countries. The Assembly has concluded 98 agreements in various fields of activity: culture, entrepreneurship, development of integration ties among the peoples of Eurasia, public diplomacy. Vernadsky Non-governmental Ecological Foundation

The Foundation was established in 1995 on the initiative of PJSC “Gazprom”. For 25 years the Foundation has been implementing socially significant projects in the field of environmental protection, the development of environmental education, environmental culture, serving as a connecting thread between the State, business and society. It unites the efforts of these parties in solving environmental problems. The main goal of the Foundation is to assist in all available forms and methods of implementing measures aimed at ensuring sustainable development of Russia based on harmony with the environment. The strategic goal of the organization is to achieve sustainable ecologically oriented socio-economic development of society based on the scientific heritage of Academician V.I. Vernadsky.
