The Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly at the XIV International IT Forum in Khanty-Mansiysk told TASS that information technologies should unite people.

There is a growing need for public diplomacy in the world. Andrei Belyaninov, Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, spoke about this in an interview with TASS during the XIV International IT Forum in Khanty-Mansiysk.

“What my colleagues and I do are issues of people's diplomacy. This is a non-bloc work. People all over the world want to live and work together. Many people don't trust their governments because they see how they act sometimes, how they lie, how inconsistent they are. People want to communicate, sing songs, play sports, learn each other's culture,” the source said.

“People all over the world will interact with each other despite any obstacles, crises, covids and pandemics, because human beings are inquisitive and want to evolve and enjoy themselves. I think even political obstacles will not be able to prevent this,” he added.

Andrei Belyaninov, who moderated the Russia-Africa round table at the IT Forum, said that he was once again convinced that people and entire continents remember and appreciate the good things that once were.

“Today we have remembered education in the USSR. There was a period when 15 graduates of Soviet universities were simultaneously presidents of African countries. We studied with pleasure, received the highest level of education and realized this potential in our homeland,” the source said. He added that the dominant feature of Soviet education was the absence of a difference in what color a person has, the shape of the eyes, the size of the cheekbones.

“Everyone was united and treated each other with respect. There can be no racial prejudice, it must be supported and, most importantly, passed on to our youth. It is largely being deprived of spirituality due to information technology, to a large extent. It is necessary that these technologies serve not only the mind but also the soul,” the expert added.
