On September 21 - 22, the Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MSAL) hosted the VI International Forum of Lawyers and Economists “Modern Problems of Law and Economics.” The main topic of the event was a discussion of trust issues in the context of digitalization and international cooperation. The forum speakers included leading experts from Armenia, Belarus, Brazil, Burundi, India, Italy, Cameroon, China, Nicaragua, Russia, Slovakia, and Tajikistan.

The International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "Eurasian Peoples' Assembly" and the Russian Council on International Affairs were the general partners of the Forum.

Today, September 21, at the plenary session “The role of the international legal community in the formation of a new environment of trust,” the first vice-rector of Moscow State Law University, Inna Ershova, made a welcoming speech:

“Trust in law is a relationship between people that is built on mutual confidence and fidelity. Trust is the basis of all social institutions, and it is the component without which these institutions will not work.”

First Deputy Secretary General – Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Svetlana Smirnova addressed the participants of the plenary meeting:

“It is symbolic that today's forum is taking place on the International Day of Peace, which was declared by the UN in 1981 and since then a bell has rung annually on this day, reminding of the need to maintain peace. In general, the topic of peace is more relevant than ever and, of course, it is related to trust... The Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly has the following motto: “From the trust of people to the trust of economies”: without trust it is impossible to build a joint business or strengthen business and economic cooperation.”

In her speech, the First Deputy Secretary General also focused on the qualities that people who participate in legislative activities should have:

“People who write laws must first of all have high moral principles, and today we need to talk in general about the humanitarian modernization of society. Every person today must be moral and responsible, not only for himself, his family, his country, but also for all of humanity.”

Concluding her speech, Svetlana Smirnova spoke about the preparation of the International Forum “Truth and Morality - a Strategic Resource of Public Diplomacy”, which will be held in Belgorod on October 10 - 12, 2023. The forum organizers are the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly together with the Belgorod State Technological University named after V. G. Shukhov.

“Our task is to form generations on spiritual and moral principles. I urge all of us to carry the flag of peace, kindness and justice. Only by being responsible and moral people can we build our beloved, worthy world,” - the expert said.

The forum participants were also addressed by the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, Sergei Kabyshev:

“We need to develop a scientific rationale for the effective interaction and partnership of the international community members, the indispensable unity of the destiny of mankind. It is trust that is important to define as the basis of a new world order.”

The Forum participants were welcomed by Maxim Topilin, the Deputy Chairman of State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation on Economic Policy; Chairman of the Russian Union of Taxpayers; Grigory Ivliev, President of the Eurasian Patent Office of the Eurasian Patent Organization; Claudio Antonio Arana, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Nicaragua in Russia; Vladislav Grib, Deputy Secretary of the Civic Chamber of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Education, editor-in-chief of the publishing group "Lawyer"; Elena Shvets, Head of the International Law Department of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia (MFA of Russia); Irina Buraya, Vice-Rector for Research at the Euphrosyne Polotsk State University.
