UCongress: Collaboration and Friendship in Education for All Ages

180 participants from 17 countries of 5 continents from different universities of the world discussed topical issues of international cooperation, the development of joint educational programs and projects at the UCongress platform. The Eurasian Peoples' Assembly acted as a co-organizer of the event.

Particular attention of the participants was paid to interaction with universities in China, the development of lifelong learning, work with alumni and associations.

Presentations given by: Deputy Secretary General of Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Doctor of Philosophy Alexandra Ochirova, Chief Analyst of the Glavexpertcentre Vera Skorobogatova, President of the International Association of Universities of the Third Age Professor Francois Vella, Head of the Department for International Relations of the All-China Association of Universities of the Aged, Vice-President University of Elderly in Guangzhou, Professor Wang Yunong, President of the Association of Alumni and Friends of RUDN University in China, Dr. Liu Xin and others.

Alexandra Ochirova, Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, Goodwill Ambassador, Doctor of Philosophy, pointed out the importance of moral education of young people, focusing on the problems of humanitarian security in modern society.

Yulia Petrova, Deputy Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly for International Cooperation, Professor, PhD in Economics, in her welcoming address to the meeting participants spoke about the Assembly activities, emphasizing the relevance and timeliness of the discussions stated in the UCongress program. Intergenerational interaction, transfer of experience and knowledge from elders to young people ensures the continuity and preservation of traditions and generations.

President of the International Association of Universities of the Third Age, a member of the General Council of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, Professor Vella emphasized the need for active development of international projects aimed at unlocking the potential of different generations from all over the world.

Head of the International Department of the All China Association of Universities of the Aged, Professor Yunong spoke about the successful experience of the elder generation development in China and the on-going scientific research. The aging pace of the world's population forces a rethinking of the traditional approaches to training of the elder generation.

Olga Subanova, the initiator of the UCongress, a member of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, Head of the “Tolmuch” project, drew attention to effective communication between universities, experience and best practices and voiced the idea of  holding the event on an annual basis.

The next - the second - UCongress will be held on November 11, 2021.
