The Public Diplomacy Forum summed up the Results of the International Competition “Smart City Solutions: East – West”

On October 11, in the city of Belgorod, on the sidelines of the III International Forum “Truth and Morality - a Strategic Resource of Public Diplomacy”, the results of the International Competition “Smart City Solutions: East - West” were summed up with the full-time participation of representatives of the Belgorod State Technological University (BSTU) named after V.G. Shukhov (Russia), Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation (Russia), Nahdlatul Ulama University of Yogyakarta (Indonesia), Damascus University (Syria), Ajloun National University (ANU, Jordan), Al-Bayan University of Iraq (Iraq), International Institute of Cultural Diplomacy (UAE) and the University of Jordan (Jordan). In general, the forum brought together representatives from 40 countries.

The organizer of the competition is the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly with the support of the A.M. Gorchakov Foundation.

During the competition, young innovative scientists presented projects dedicated to creating safe and energy-efficient megacities of the future. The winners of the competition received well-deserved recognition.

The first prize won a team of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and Damascus University (Syria). Belgorod State Technological University (BSTU) named after V.G. shared second prize with the Ajloun National University (Jordan). Third place went to representatives of Salahaddin University (Iraq).

Along with this, the “Smart Campus” project of Nahdatul Ulama University of Yogyakarta (Indonesia) aroused special attention from members of the international jury. By general agreement, it was recognized as “the most promising” and received special attention when summing up the results.

Concluding the award ceremony, the organizers of the International Forum and Competition - the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov and the A.M. Gorchakov Foundation – announced the launch of a new International Competition of Research Works at partner universities of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly.

One of the important outcomes of the competition was the signing of agreements and the development of partnerships between universities. Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law (BUKEP) (Russia) has entered into cooperation agreements with Nahdatul Ulama University Yogyakarta (Indonesia), Damascus University (Syria), Ajloun National University (Jordan), International Institute of Cultural Diplomacy (UAE) and the University of Jordan (Jordan).

According to the general recognition of university representatives, the agreements will become a new starting point for the development of international exchange of knowledge and experience, as well as interaction in the field of public diplomacy.

Recall that the International Competition “Smart City Solutions: East – West” is aimed at creating a platform for strengthening ties between young scientists from Russia, the countries of the Middle East and North Africa. It also promotes the dissemination of the results and achievements of young scientists in important areas such as “green cities”, “urban regeneration”, “safe cities”, “accessible inclusive cities”, helps strengthen the competencies of participants in the field of international scientific, technological and innovative cooperation in smart management and use of urban life systems.
