National Accent: Gardens in Memory of the Second World War planted in 18 Countries Around the World

The International Public Action #СадМира was held in honour of the day of the historic meeting on the Elbe of the allied and American troops on April 25. The Action took place under the motto "Keep the world - Plant a tree - Save the planet" in 18 countries of the world, the organizers told the "National Accent".

Trees in memory of the results of World War II were planted in Russia, USA, India, China, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Armenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Cyprus.

Live broadcasts were held from the sites of the tree planting Action in Russia: in the village of Nelidovo (Volokolamsk) from the common grave of the Panfilov heroes, in Moscow - the participants gathered at the "Spirit of the Elbe" memorial plaque on the Memory Alley in Victory Park and at the City Farm at VDNKh.

The Action was organized by the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, the Russian House "Continent USA", the International Centre for Public Diplomacy of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI and the International Council of Russian Compatriots (ICRO) with the support of the UN Information Centre in Moscow and the Russian office of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
