At the headquarters of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, unique poems, that have become the property of the world cultural heritage, were spoken. Public figures, poets, sculptors, art historians, and filmmakers gathered for the International Conference: “Makhtumkuli Fragi - the contribution of Turkmen culture to world civilization.”

The conference was organized by: the Business Communications Council of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly and the regional public organization “Society of Turkmen Culture”.

The event is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the classic of Turkmen literature, the outstanding poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi, included in the UNESCO List of Memorable Dates, in honor of which this year in Turkmenistan is held under the motto “Makhtumkuli Fraghi's treasure trove of wisdom.” The conference was one of the first stages of preparation for the International Conference of Ministers of Culture, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, which will be held on May 17-18, 2024 in Ashgabat.

Famous cultural and public figures: filmmakers Laura Stepanskaya and Khojakuli Narliev. Poet and translator Valery Latynin, architect Viktor Rychkov, sculptor Vladimir Surovtsev, diplomat and writer Anatoly Shchelkunov visited the headquarters of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in Moscow. Poet Mikhail Sinelnikov, composer Vladimir Mkrtumov and historian, archaeologist Ruslan Muradov joined the event via video link from Ashgabat. And the rector of the university, Tausoltan Uzdenov, got in touch from Karachay-Cherkessia - this educational institution has established a Magtymguly scholarship, which is awarded to the five best Turkmen students. Magtymguly’s poems were read, excerpts from a documentary film about the Turkmen philosopher and poet, whose sayings remain relevant today, were shown.

Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrei Belyaninov emphasized:

“The 300th anniversary of Magtymguly, the great Turkmen poet and thinker, is very important today for bringing peoples closer together in these very difficult times. The significance of Magtymguly’s creative heritage for descendants is determined by the fact that through it we realize the cultural connection, ideological continuity of generations of different historical eras, national identity and integrity.”

The poetic heritage of Magtymguly is a large, bright, deeply original contribution of the Turkmen people to world culture. This heritage is not only the national pride of the Turkmen people, but also rightfully constitutes the artistic heritage of all peoples of the world. Therefore, foreign friends and compatriots, admirers of talent and admirers of the work of the brilliant Fraga join this significant holiday, since the classic poetry has a global scale and a universal character.

The work of the Turkmen classic gave a powerful impetus to the development of the musical culture of the Turkmen people. The wonderful creations of Magtymguly and his followers Seidi, Zelili, Kemine, Mollanepes inspired a whole galaxy of singers and musicians, which led to the creation of creative schools based on the enormous literary wealth of the people.

“No one expected that this miracle would happen in the Turkmen sands... No one expected that the Turkmen people, who had gone through a complex, most difficult road to survival, would give birth in their depths to the personality of a thinker who spoke in poetry, who would reach in his creations a universal humanistic character, who will stand on a par with the most outstanding sons of the past of Turkestan... whose name and work will be included in the treasury of all world poetry...", writes the famous Kyrgyz writer, publicist and public figure Chingiz Aitmatov about the Turkmen thinker.

Many of the poet’s lines turned into proverbs and sayings. Thanks to the lightness and refinement of the artistic form, the substantive accuracy and depth in reflecting the most diverse aspects of life, social mores and the characters of people, poems could completely turn into folk art.

One of Magtymguly’s greatest merits is that he was the first to pave the way for the living Turkmen language in literature, laying the foundations of classical Turkmen poetry, enriching it with images of folk art and the best traditions of oriental poetry.

The participants of the International Conference were unanimous: the community of Moscow Turkmen, its leaders - Gulya Tekaeva and Batyr Abdullaev, managed to organize such a bright and important event in Moscow, far from Magtymguly’s homeland. Uniting event. And therefore, doubly valuable.

Based on the results of the International Conference, a decision was made: in honor of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, the Business Communications Council of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, together with the partner of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, the Regional Society of Turkmen Culture, will organize and facilitate a number of events throughout the year:
