The Headquarters of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly in Moscow hosted an Evening with Latin American Poet and Translator Rubén Darío Florez

MOSCOW. On September 20, at the headquarters of the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "Eurasian Peoples' Assembly" in Moscow hosted an Evening with the Latin American poet and translator, President of the Leo Tolstoy Institute of Culture in Bogota (Colombia), Associate Professor of the National University of Colombia Rubén Darío Florez Arcila. The Evening became an important event for the literary community and cultural exchange between Russia and Colombia.

The event was organized by the Literary Council of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly and the World Organization of Writers "WOW".

Guests and participants were welcomed by Svetlana Smirnova, First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "Eurasian Peoples' Assembly". Words of welcome were also addressed to participants from other countries who joined the event online.

“Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Andrei Belyaninov conveys his best wishes to you. It is a great honor for us to meet such a delegation led by H.E. the Ambassador Héctor Isidro Arenas Neira... One of the formats of our work is the organization of the Days of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly in different countries. We open Assembly Representative Offices in different countries and hold events. This year, in Egypt, we organized the Open Eurasian Literary Festival LIFFT-2023. It was there that writers from different countries decided to create the World Writers Association. I suggest you think about how the writing community of your country can be involved in this global movement,” - said Svetlana Smirnova.

The participants of the Evening were welcomed by H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Colombia to the Russian Federation, Mr. Héctor Isidro Arenas Neira. The welcoming words emphasized the importance of literature and culture in strengthening spiritual values and world development.

The creative part of the Evening was opened by the poet, Chairman of the Literary Council of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly and President of the World Organization of Writers “WOW” Margarita Al.

“Dear friends, comrades! I thank you for responding to this meeting. Thank you, dear Rubén Darío Florez Arcila, for visiting us. Today we will listen to your poems and talk about the World Writers Organization,” said Margarita Al.

She congratulated Rubén Darío Florez Arcila on the Silver Medal of the VI Eurasian Literary Festival LIFFT-2023 in Egypt and wished him even higher awards for literary creativity, especially noting his translation of A.S. Pushkin’s “Eugene Onegin” from Russian into Spanish.

In a warm atmosphere at the event, a Memorandum of Intent to establish the World Organization of Writers "WOW" was signed by a Colombian writer, highlighting the importance of cooperation in the global literary environment.

Rubén Darío Florez Arcila recited his poems in Spanish and French. One of his poems, freely translated into Russian, was read by Margarita Al. The guest of the Evening, People's Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan Eduard Treskin, performed a romance based on poems by A.S. Pushkin.

The event ended with words of gratitude from Alexandra Ochirova, poet, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Co-Chairman of the General Council of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly and wishes for success in achieving the goals set out in the Memorandum.

“It is humanitarian modernization that should place spiritual and moral values in the most important place, as the main strategic resource for sustainable and safe human existence and development; the level of development of civilization should be determined by morality, and only a moral person will save the world - you need to think, write, read and talk about this,” - Alexandra Vasilyeva emphasized in her message.

Director of the World Organization of Writers “WOW” Alexander Ostroverkh-Kvanchiani thanked Rubén Darío Florez Arcila, participants and guests for a wonderful Evening.

The Evening became a significant event for cultural exchange between Russia and Colombia, emphasized the importance of the word and spiritual values in the modern world.
