The Eurasian Peoples' Assembly signed a cooperation agreement with the Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University

On October 19, 2023, as part of a visit to Tajikistan, the delegation of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly under the leadership of the First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Svetlana Konstantinovna Smirnova visited the Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University. There was signed a Cooperation Agreement and a meeting held with the administration and students.

The university was established in Dushanbe in 1996. The structure of the university includes 6 faculties, 35 departments, the Institute for Advanced Training of Teachers, 2 secondary schools, educational and methodological department, department of science, department of international relations, educational department, Center for Information Technology and Innovation Policy, Center 7 for Distance Learning, Testing Center, UNESCO Department “Intercultural Dialogue in the Modern World”, Center for Geopolitical Research, Center for Culture, Center “Russian World”, legal clinic, Research Institute of Migration, library, educational practice complexes in the cities of Nureke and Romita, Center for Russian Language and Culture, Tourism Resource Center, Interdisciplinary Center for Regional Studies of Central Asia and other centers and scientific departments. More than 5,000 people study at the university.

Members of the delegation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly were given a tour of the university.

During the meeting with the Rector of the university, Faizullo Mashrab Kurbonali, issues of possible partnership in various areas and prospects for cooperation were discussed, in particular, the creation of a permanent community of young people (discussion club) “Thinkers of the Future”, organization of film screenings of documentaries - participants in the festival “Won Together”, meetings with directors, work to preserve historical memory and much more.

As Valery Davydovich Ruzin, Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, noted, “we must join forces in the fight for the preservation of historical truth.”

As a result of the discussion, a Cooperation Agreement was signed for the implementation of joint scientific, educational, cultural and humanitarian projects and programs. On behalf of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, the document was signed by the First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Svetlana Konstantinovna Smirnova, on the part of the Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University - by Rector Fayzullo Mashrab Kurbonali.

The parties agreed to develop a “road map” for the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement.

The meeting with university students discussed the issue “On the role of public diplomacy in strengthening friendship between peoples”. The First Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly spoke about the activities of the organization, noting the importance of contacts between people in any endeavor – in business projects, humanitarian initiatives, diplomatic contacts, and invited students and teachers to participate in events held by the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.

There was a sincere, interested conversation about what it means to be successful in life and not be afraid to take responsibility for their actions.

There is a lot of interesting joint work ahead for the benefit of strengthening peace and unity in the Eurasian space.
