The IX Congress of the Peoples of the Primorsky Territory, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Assembly of the Peoples of Primorye, is completing its work in Vladivostok. Svetlana Smirnova, First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, Chairman of the Council of the Assembly of Peoples of Russia, takes part in the events of the Congress.
On the eve of the opening of the Congress, on October 26, Svetlana Smirnova met with the Vice-Governor of the Primorsky Territory Dmitry Mariza. The paerties discussed issues of cooperation between the Government of the Primorsky Territory and the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "Eurasian Peoples' Assembly", the development of international-level communication platforms in the territory of the Primorsky Territory and the creation of joint projects with the aim of establishing humanitarian and business cooperation with the countries of Greater Eurasia and Africa.
The First Deputy Secretary General spoke about the events and initiatives of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly aimed at ensuring trust and mutual understanding between states, developing international relations, supporting public and state peacekeeping initiatives, preserving the cultural heritage of the peoples of Eurasia, and also invited the regional leadership to support the flagship projects of the Assembly – the Eurasian games “EURASIADA”, World Public Summit, Public Diplomacy Forum, and a project “Heritage of Eurasia: Cultural Practices of Rural Areas” aimed at creating a Eurasian partnership of rural areas and others.
During the Grand opening of the IX Congress of the Peoples of the Primorsky Territory, Svetlana Smirnova thanked all participants for the national and spiritual unity.
During October 26 and 27, the Congress events included discussions, conferences and round tables on topical issues of preserving ethnocultural diversity and interethnic unity of peoples, their role in the development of public diplomacy in the system of international relations in the Asia-Pacific region.
