On April 6, 2021, the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly organized and held the International Round Table “Great Eurasian Partnership. Vietnam's Role in Forming New Strategic Initiatives”. The declared topic of the round table aroused great interest among representatives of the Eurasian space.
Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrei Yuryevich Belyaninov, in his welcoming speech, outlined the main areas of the table: development and rethinking of public diplomacy tools, taking into account modern trends in the interaction of the peoples of the continent, humanitarian foundations of interethnic cooperation, economic instruments for mutually beneficial integration.
The guests of honour took part in the round table:
- Nguyen Fyong Nga, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Chairman of the Vietnam Friendship Union;
- Sergei Yurievich Glazyev, Minister for Main Areas of Integration and Macroeconomics of the EEC;
- Alexandra Vasilievna Ochirova, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Deputy Secretary General of EPA;
- Nguyen Quin Mai, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Recognized experts and specialists in establishing multilateral relations on the continent from Russia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan and Armenia attended the round table. They raised important issues regarding the development and deepening of Eurasian comprehensive and fruitful interaction, including on the basis of successful experience of two traditionally close countries.
In particular, the historical roots of mutual support, formed in the Soviet era and laid the foundations for a unique moral and humanitarian cooperation, which can serve as an example for its reproduction in the Eurasian space, were highly appreciated.
They also touched upon the pressing issues of deepening interaction and integration of Vietnam into the economic configuration of the EAEU.
The meeting voiced and supported proposals on the formation of cultural and linguistic centres to maintain ethnic uniqueness and facilitate the assimilation of representatives of the Vietnamese nationality living in Russia.
As a result of the round table, Recommendations were formed. They aim to convey information about the key trends in bilateral relations development to the widest possible circle of participants.
The materials of the round table were translated into 6 languages - Vietnamese, English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Russian, and sent to partners.
