At the proposal of the National Public Committee "Russian Family" the Russian State Social University supported by the Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "Eurasian Peoples' Assembly" held the XXII International Congress "Russian Family" on May 23. The theme of the event is "Young family - a demographic resource of Russia."
In total, 600 people took part in the Congress, including representatives of Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Vietnam.
Sections of the Congress worked in Moscow - on the basis of the Russian State Pedagogical University, in Lugansk - on the basis of Lugansk State Pedagogical University, in Izhevsk - on the basis of Udmurt University, in Voronezh - on the basis of the Voronezh Institute of Education.
Svetlana Smirnova, Chairperson of the General Council of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, Doctor of Political Sciences, spoke at the plenary meeting online.
“2024 is the year of the Family, approved by the President of our country and the motto of our Congress is: “Family is a spiritual phenomenon and the basis of morality.”
Speaking about preserving the family, it is very important indeed to pay great attention to young families, because they are the ones who need special support from the state and other institutions.
I would like to note that the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly supports and implements various projects aimed at preserving traditional family values, and it is very important for us that we are creating a separate institution: non-profit organization - “Eurasian Center for Family Values”, and we are also implementing the project “Happy Family - Happy Country - Happy World”.
It should be noted that the president of our country constantly pursues a policy of preserving traditional values, family values. You and I have amended the current Constitution of the Russian Federation - I was a member of the working group on the amendments - and I know how anxiously my colleagues collected all the proposals from our citizens of the Russian Federation, which were related precisely to the preservation of the institution of the family. And thus, today these norms are reflected in the current version of the Constitution of the Russian Federation.
You also know that a Decree has been issued on the approval of the foundations of spiritual and moral values and a lot has been done in this area.
“I am absolutely sure that the current Congress answers a number of questions posed and excludes its contribution to preserving our true Russian values and supporting young families.”
The participants discussed the main topics: support for student families, support for Russian family policy regarding young families, management of programs to increase the birth rate, the role of public organizations in improving the demographic situation, social policy, work with parent communities and other pressing issues.
Interest in the subject matter of the Congress was very great. The dialogue platform received greetings from the leaders of the State Duma factions Sergei Mironov and Leonid Slutsky, Inna Svyatenko, Deputy Chairman of the SF Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Elena Vtorigina, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Women, Family and Children's Affairs, and Maria Lvova-Belova, Presidential Ombudsperson for Children's Rights.
Senators, deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, as well as leaders of public organizations “Mothers of Russia” and “Women’s Union of Russia” spoke at the event, total 150 speakers took part at all venues.
The Congress was broadcast via video link in 18 regions of the Russian Federation.
According to the participants of the Congress, the state has done a lot in recent years to support families, and this work certainly needs to be continued: study successful practices, pass laws, and find new solutions. Spiritual and moral qualities must be nurtured in children, on which the family will later be based.
