Yalta-1945: the International Public Forum "VICTORIOUS TOGETHER – for Peace and Creation" was held in the Livadia Palace

The Yalta International Public Forum for the preservation of the memory of the Second World War and the Great Patriotic war “VICTORIOUS TOGETHER – for Peace and Creation” was held on February 14 as part of the International Conference “Yalta-1945: Lessons of History”.

International public forums "VICTORIOUS TOGETHER - for Peace and Creation" is a global project of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly. First Deputy Secretary General – Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Svetlana Smirnova presented the project.

The current forum in Yalta is the third. For the first time, an event of this format was held in May 2019 in Sevastopol (Crimea) as part of the XV Sevastopol International Documentary Film and Television Programs Festival “Victorious Together”. The second forum was held in September 2019 in Baku as part of the Days of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly in Azerbaijan. The next one is to be held in March as part of the Days of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly in Uzbekistan.

In 2020, the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly plans to hold at least 10 International Public Forums "VICTORIOUS TOGETHER - for Peace and Creation" in different countries. Svetlana Smirnova highlighted the importance of upcoming events in Berlin and Beijing.

Based on the unique lessons of history, the forums "VICTORIOUS TOGETHER - for Peace and Creation" combine the efforts of the government and society to replace the old destructive scenarios of wars and conflicts with new peaceful forms of peoples’ coexistence.

"Our events are a practical step towards implementing an all-encompassing peace initiative that brings together people regardless of gender, race, nationality, or religion to strengthen harmony and unity," - said Svetlana Smirnova, First Deputy Secretary General, Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly. Scientists, public figures, representatives of international intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, authorities, youth organizations and mass media participate in the events."

On April 24, 2020, on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Elbe Day, the day Soviet and American troops met at the River Elbe near Torgau in Germany, the Berlin International Public Forum "VICTORIOUS TOGETHER – for Peace and Creation" will open. In September this year, the forum is to be held in Beijing under the banner of the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War – on the same dates and in the same place.
