The 19th of November is World Philosophy Day. This day is celebrated in more than 70 countries - UNESCO members around the world.

Alexandra Ochirova, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Doctor of Philosophy, member of the General Council of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, spoke on the enduring value of philosophy for the development of human thought of every culture and every person.

“On the one hand, Philosophy is the basis of the search for knowledge of truth. On the other hand it is the source of answers to the one's questions asked when mastering the world, understanding himself, as well as societies, civilizations and states.

The human dimension has always been present in history. A person interpreted his every step, formed knowledge, and after that new perceptions of the world appeared one by one.

Unfortunately, modern humanitarian knowledge has lost the integrity with which ancient philosophy approached the issues of being, space, time and the meaning of human life,” - said Alexandra Ochirova.

UNESCO established World Philosophy Day celebration in 2002. This day is celebrated on every third Thursday of November. UNESCO has proposed to celebrate World Philosophy Day every year in order to bring the richness of philosophical thought to the world community at the global level. The purpose of this Day is to present to people the philosophical heritage, bring new ideas to everyday thought and stimulate public debate among intellectuals and civil society on the challenges that society is facing today.
