From May 11 to May 20, Sevastopol will host a Documentary Film Festival "VICTORIOUS TOGETHER" said Russian Peoples’ Artist and festival president Vladimir Menshov at a press conference at the MIA "Russia Today". He noted that this year even more participants have been accredited from China.
“The festival has gained momentum, and now it is truly turning into a worldwide one. Last year a powerful Chinese delegation took part at the festival. This year, even more participants have been accredited from China,” - he said, adding that COVID-19 could be an obstacle, but the festival will take place anyway.
Following the Film festival, from May 20 to 23, the International Public Forum for the preservation of the memory of the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War "VICTORIOUS TOGETHER – for Peace and Creation" will be held in Sevastopol.
China's high interest in the festival and forum is not least due to the fact that this country's participation in the Second World War and its contribution to the Victory are underestimated in the modern world, believes Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrei Belyaninov.
"Nowadays, when there are attempts to re-make the world, change the political map, we have no right to forget the results of the war and betray the memory of our ancestors. Moreover, just the festival and the forums "VICTORIOUS TOGETHER" become a bridge between the past and the future. These events are to help elites around the world "to clear the brain" and "to synchronize the watches", so that history does not repeat itself," - said Andrei Belyaninov about the goals of such events, recalling the recent forum dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the historical Yalta conference.
“Our task is to maintain true friendship, which is not afraid of any obstacles. Of course, the situation with COVID-19 makes its own adjustments. Now we are focused on holding such forums in 2020 using Internet technologies,” - said Svetlana Smirnova, First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.
The President of the Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio Valery Ruzin recalled that 34 countries have so far confirmed their participation in the Sevastopol International Public Forum and the festival “VICTORIOUS TOGETHER”. He is convinced that "culture erodes the sanction plague".
International Documentary Film Festival “VICTORIOUS TOGETHER”
From May 11 to May 20, Sevastopol will host the 16th International Festival of Documentary Films and Television Programs “VICTORIOUS TOGETHER”. The festival is a unique opportunity for a creative dialogue between documentaries of Russia and other countries. The program includes a documentary film competition, a television competition, a film school competition and an international competition for social short films, social videos and social advertising.
The festival hosts international pitching of film and television projects. This year, the festival’s expert council will select the best historical projects and “In the Crimea and Sevastopol” project (films that are supposed to be shot in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol). Winners will receive support for the implementation and promotion of their work.
The out-of-competition program is presented by a number of special projects, including the Eurasian panorama of the documentary films “Heartbeat of Eurasia”, a panorama of the actual feature films of Asian and European countries, creative meetings with film masters, exhibitions of photographs and drawings.
Organizers: Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio, the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, Government of Sevastopol. The project is being implemented using a grant from the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society provided by the Presidential Grants Fund, and with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Union of Russian Filmmakers, and “Channel One. World Wide Web”, the “Pobeda” TV channel the Russian Historical Society and the “Golden Ribbon” studio.
International Public Forum “VICTORIOUS TOGETHER – for Peace and Creation”
The “VICTORIOUS TOGETHER – for Peace and Creation” forum recalls the values of the unity and friendship of peoples in the Great Victory, draws attention to the lessons of the Second World War, helps to actively resist attempts to resuscitate fascism and Nazism, draws the international community to an unbiased and objective study of history.
For the first time such a forum was held as part of the XV Sevastopol International Documentary Film Festival and TV programs “VICTORIOUS TOGETHER”. Later, such forums were held in Baku in September 2019 and in Yalta in February 2020. The next forum is scheduled for May 20-23 in Sevastopol.
In 2020, forums are also planned in Austria, Armenia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Vietnam, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, China, Uzbekistan and other countries of Eurasia.
