Universities of the Belgorod Region proposed to open a Representative Office of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in the Region

The delegation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly took part in the International Conference "Russia and the Countries of the Arab World", which took place on May 23 - 25 in the Belgorod region (Russia).

The delegation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly included Deputy Secretary General, Professor Yulia Petrova, Co-Chair of the Assembly General Council, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Alexandra Ochirova, Deputy Secretary General Valery Ruzin and Head of the Department of Sustainable Development Yaser Allaham.

The international conference was attended by representatives of 17 countries: the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Syrian Arab Republic, the State of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Palestine, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, the Republic of Yemen and others. The events were held at the sites of the three largest universities: Belgorod State National Research University, Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov and Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law.

“Our task is to form a platform in the new conditions, a kind of international aggregator that would unite representatives of the best universities in its ranks,” said Yulia Petrova, Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, presenting the activities of the organization.

The Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, the Arab diasporas, and the leaders of the Associations of Graduates of Soviet Universities decided in September 2023 to open an Arab Center at the sites of Belgorod universities.

In turn, the three largest universities of the Belgorod region put forward a consolidated proposal to open a Representative Office of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in this region of Russia.
