Millions of people need a vaccine - in the Eurasian Union, in Asia and in Africa. But part of the equipment the vaccine is produced on in Russia is imported from the United States. Now it is important not to “crush” competitors, said the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.

YEREVAN, December 25 - Sputnik. The Russian coronavirus vaccine should become available in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union as soon as possible, Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrei Belyaninov stated at a press conference during the Yerevan-Moscow-Bishkek-Nur-Sultan international teleconference.

Naturally, first of all, Russia needs a vaccine for its citizens. But residents of other countries also need protection from the coronavirus, he stressed.

According to Andrei Belyaninov, no one insists that there should be no other vaccine in the world other than the Russian one. If to measure everything by the market, then it is so large that there is room for everyone, he added.

“Representatives of our association in India and Cameroon say that their countries need the Russian vaccine. I asked: “Why? After all, India has its own excellent pharmaceuticals. “They answer: “Yes, but it's hot here, other vaccines cannot withstand such temperatures.” Therefore, these vaccines need to be distributed as quickly as possible. Of course, first of all, Russia cares about its own population. But other countries need help too, “ - added Belyaninov.

The countries of the Eurasian Union - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Armenia - need the vaccine for the citizens of their countries, he added.

It should be noted here that some of the equipment the vaccine is produced on is made in the USA. And now difficulties may arise with new deliveries of this equipment: American enterprises say they must sell them to other pharmaceutical companies.

“That is, we found ourselves in technological dependence. Now the main thing is that we do not see each other as competitors, and do not deprive millions of people of medicine for the sake of fighting for sales and markets,” - added Belyaninov.

It should be noted that Armenia is already negotiating the purchase of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus “Sputnik V”. The negotiations are taking place both bilaterally and via the international platform for the preliminary purchase of Covax Facility.
