BISHKEK, Oct 29 - Sputnik. Bishkek hosted a round table meeting "People's Diplomacy - One of the Instruments for Ensuring Eurasian Security. The Role of National Diasporas."

It was organized by the expert club "Oi-Pikir" with the support of the Russian Gorchakov Foundation.

As the organizers of the event said, the importance of the topic is due to the active pressure on the national groups of the Eurasian space by external geopolitical players in order to delimit the union states and national communities within the sovereign republics.

The head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Svetlana Smirnova noted that friendly relations have developed between the assemblies of the peoples of Russia and Kyrgyzstan.

“We need to reconsider geopolitical realities from new positions, what else can we do. I think the main emphasis should be on working with youth and children,” she said.

Smirnova proposed to implement the projects of sister schools on the example of cities.

The former head of the Assembly of the People of the Kyrgyz Republic Tokon Mamytov believes that people's diplomacy in today's realities is important.

"At the dawn of independence, when elements of soft power were just emerging, we also tried to use elements of people's diplomacy in our relations in Central Asia. Now, with some neighboring States, we are not in a hopeless situation, but in difficult relations. And in this situation, people's diplomacy could play a significant role," he said.

Publicist Talant Dzhumabaev emphasized the importance of a common philosophy, the ideology of the Eurasian space.

"There is an ideological base - a common ethics of all the peoples living in the Eurasian space. As a rule, this is a traditional society and common values that the West has been trying to destroy in recent decades. And it is thanks to these values that we, the allied peoples, cannot be divided and quarreled, although such attempts exist," he said.

Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Assembly of the People of the Kyrgyz Republic Alexander Stepanyuk emphasized that he had repeatedly seen the open interest of young Kyrgyzstanis in the topics of Eurasian integration and ensuring Eurasian security at various events.

"Nowadays, all civil society, organizations, all citizens of the Eurasian space should take higher, ambitious standards and set goals, and this will be our contribution, the contribution of public diplomacy, to ensuring the security of citizens and countries of Eurasia, a contribution to stabilizing the situation and returning it to a peaceful channel," he said.
