A Slavic meeting dedicated to the Day of Friendship and Unity of the Slavs was held online in Bryansk and Moscow on June 25. Andrey Belyaninov, Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, and Vitaly Suchkov, Head of the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of the Moscow Government (Russia) greeted the meeting.

This Day is traditionally celebrated in the Bryansk region. Here, on the border of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, the Monument of Friendship of Three Nations was erected more than 50 years ago.  Thousands of people gathered earlier on this Day at the monument. The task of this Day is to actualize in new, much more difficult conditions the very theme of friendship and unity of Slavic peoples, to gather a “reasonable” part of the Slavic community and start a minimal, but so necessary today, Slavic dialogue. As a result, the discussion centered on the issues of the current state of relations between the Slavic, primarily Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian peoples and the possible program of their real unity.

At the meeting in Bryansk, chaired by Mikhail Ivanov, Head of the Bryansk regional branch of the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia. The meeting was attended by the following speakers: Head of the Department for Church and Society Relations of the Bryansk Diocesan Administration Hieromonk Korniliy (Nedbaevsky), Director of the Department of Culture of the Bryansk Region Elena Krivtsova, Chairperson of the trusteeship social movement "Orthodox Russia" Sergey Smirnov, members of the government, heads of national-cultural and scientific-educational organizations of the border regions of Russia. The fact of participation of public representatives from Belarus, Ukraine, Serbia and the corresponding national-cultural societies from various regions of the country in the online discussion of the issues of Slavic unity was of fundamental importance.

In Moscow, the discussion chaired by the Head of the Moscow regional organization, the first deputy chairman of the Council of the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia, a member of the General Council of the Eurasian Peoples 'Assembly, Igor Krugovykh, was attended by: Director General of the Slavic Fund of Russia Kirill Mireysky, Deputy Director of the Institute of Demography of the Russian Academy of Sciences Marina Khramova, co-chairman of the Writers' Union Sergei Kotkalo, President of the Foundation for the Unity of the Russian and Georgian Peoples Vladimir Khomeriki, heads of regional organizations of the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia and the national-cultural societies of Moscow, Moscow, Kaluga regions (Russia).

Of particular interest was the multinational and widespread celebration, including the holding of the Slavic Cinema Film Festival, the Day of Friendship and Unity of Slavs in Kazan, under the leadership of Irina Aleksandrovskaya, Chairman of the Board of the Russian National Cultural Association of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Along with the consideration of the entire complex of modern problems of Slavic unity, it was especially noted that this is not only a matter of the Slavs themselves, but an urgent task affecting the fundamental interests of all peoples of Russia.

The participants of the Slavic meeting took as a basis the Appeal “Towards a New Unity” prepared by public organizations, the main idea of which is to start a difficult, but so necessary in modern conditions, process of jointly developing a common vision of a peaceful, creative future of the Slavic peoples. It was decided to establish a permanent round table "Unity of Slavic Peoples", coordinated by the head of the Bryansk regional organization of the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia Mikhail Ivanov and the head of the Moscow regional organization of the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia, member of the General Council of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Igor Krugovykh.
