Rossiyskaya Gazeta: Eurasian Peoples' Assembly was opened in Moscow

The General Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, the supreme body of the international union of non-governmental organizations "Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly", has started its work in Moscow. It is the general meeting of all its members and the supreme body of the union. More than 800 representatives of non-governmental organizations from 45 countries take part in its work.

The General Assembly intends to take stock of the Assembly's activities since its establishment, approve a roadmap for the next four years and elect governing bodies. "Over the years of its existence, the Assembly has become a popular platform for ensuring dialogue between peoples, as well as between the public and government bodies." This is stated in the greeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the forum participants.

"In the context of difficult international situation, it is important to make full use of the significant creative potential of the Assembly as one of the forums of public diplomacy to strengthen the traditions of friendship, good-neighborliness and mutual understanding on the Eurasian continent," - the Russian President emphasized in his greeting to the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, published on the website The Kremlin.

“Over the years of its existence, the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly has established itself as a popular platform for communication between colleagues and like-minded people, for a meaningful dialogue between the public and government bodies,” - said Dmitry Kozak, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia. - I am sure that its decisions will help to activate multilevel integration processes, develop intercultural and interreligious dialogue, as well as strengthen the traditionally established friendly ties between the peoples of Eurasia."

According to Kozak, international non-profit organizations are "conductors of people's diplomacy" that plays a "key role in ensuring trust and mutual understanding between states and peoples."
