Representatives of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly took part in the Forum "The Union State: Economic Integration – Development Tasks"

Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Marina Plyasunova and Head of the Department of CIS, EAEU and US Zhovzan Zainalabdieva took part in the expert media forum "The Union State: Economic Integration – Development Tasks " on March 31.

The event was held on the eve of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia at two venues: in Moscow in the studio of MIA "Russia Today" and in Minsk in the Palace of the Republic, which were connected by a video bridge and worked live.

The purpose of the forum is to strengthen economic cooperation between Russia and Belarus, the development of new areas of business and technology.

The forum was opened by the State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev.

The participants and speakers of the forum included: the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Maksut Shadaev (Moscow), Minister of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus Konstantin Shulgin (Minsk), President of the National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute" Mikhail Kovalchuk (Moscow), Director of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus Vasily Gursky (Minsk), Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov (Moscow), Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus Sergey Shlychkov (Minsk), Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Dmitry Volvach (Moscow), President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin (Moscow), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenko (Moscow), Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Belarus Alesya Abramenko (Minsk), Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Timur Maksimov (Moscow), Chairman of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee Anatoly Isachenko (Mogilev), Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako (Moscow), Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly, Director of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vasily Gursky (Minsk), Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly Commission on Foreign Policy, Chairman of the State Duma for the CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and relations with compatriots Leonid Kalashnikov (Moscow).

The forum was also attended by heads of relevant ministries of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, representatives of government authorities, heads of regions and large industrial enterprises, heads and journalists of central and regional media.

The speakers of the two countries discussed the existing opportunities for markets, as well as ways to increase the economic self-sufficiency of the Union State. It was noted that in the current situation of sanctions pressure, the urgency of deepening the integration processes of the two countries is increasing. Accordingly, Russia and Belarus intend to harmonize almost all areas of microeconomic policy, tax and customs legislation, and unite control over the movement of goods and transport (the agreement has already been signed in Minsk). The government has published information on all 28 union programs for the integration of the two countries, which were approved in Minsk at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State.

In addition, a youth track was held within the forum. The representatives of relevant organizations, authorities, the expert community and leaders of youth organizations of the two countries considered issues related to the role of the youth of the Union State in preserving historical heritage and cultural traditions.
