Rambler / News: Russia will hold the first "Geneva Readings" on the Sustainable Development Goals

The first "Geneva SDG Readings" - an international conference on the development of multilateral cooperation in the area of ​​the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - will start on Monday at the UN Office in Geneva.

On December 6 - 9, the conference participants will discuss the issues of achieving the SDGs by the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) during a pandemic, study the best practices of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation on integrating the SDGs into local socially significant initiatives, discuss the role of business in the sustainable development of regions and outline the directions and key trends of social business programs in line with the SDGs.

Following the conference, a document will be agreed on the establishment of a permanent dialogue platform "Geneva Readings of the SDGs" under the auspices of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN Office in Geneva and the UN Office in Geneva. This platform will become the basis of an expert platform for multilateral cooperation to accelerate progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The organizers of the new conference are the Cultural Seasons Charitable Foundation, the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN Office in Geneva, the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations “Eurasian Peoples' Assembly” and the Russian Association for the Assistance of the United Nations. The discussion was moderated by State Duma Deputy Anatoly Karpov and Regional Adviser to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Mario Apostolov.

Representatives of the EAEU countries, international organizations UN OG, ECOSOC, Geneva SDG Lab, the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the Social Information Agencies will take part in the Geneva Readings. Large manufacturing companies Philip Morris, Sivil BioScience, EuroChem - leaders in industrial sectors, will talk about their corporate volunteering practices, successful partnership formats for business, government and the non-profit sector. The company of the Russian entrepreneur Andrey Melnichenko, for example, will present at the conference the social program # 20 of GoodDelEuroChem, implemented in the year of the company's 20th anniversary.
