NEW DELHI, March 20 - PRIME. The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is interested in signing an agreement on working in the format of a free trade zone (FTA) with India as soon as possible, said Andrei Belyaninov, Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.

He noted that the head of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC, the regulatory body in the EAEU), Mikhail Myasnikovich, instructed to transfer this interest to representatives of Indian business.

“He asked to convey that the Eurasian Economic Commission is interested in signing an agreement on working in the format of a free trade zone between the Eurasian Commission and India as soon as possible. These are huge advantages for both Indian and Eurasian businesses," Belyaninov said at a press conference.

The EAEU is an international integration economic association that has been operating since January 1, 2015. The members of the union are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Earlier, it signed agreements on a free trade zone with Vietnam, Singapore, and preparations are underway to sign an agreement on the transition to a free trade zone with Iran.
