"Open Dialogue - the Way to Spiritual Harmony". Towards the World Conference

On October 18, the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly held a round table "Open Dialogue - the Way to Spiritual Harmony" in the run-up to the World Conference on Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue.

The online meeting brought together members and partners of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly from Austria, Great Britain, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Switzerland in order to support the International Action "Day of Spiritual Harmony of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly".

The initiative to celebrate the Day of Spiritual Harmony was born in Alma-Ata in 1992. Its origin was put by the current members of the Council for Spiritual Culture of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly: Wilhelm Augustat, Yuri Ageshin, Tolegen Mukhamedzhanov. Largely thanks to the efforts of Tolegen Mukhamedzhanovich, for almost 30 years, October 18 has been celebrated in Kazakhstan as a day of mercy, mutual understanding and reconciliation between people of different nationalities and confessions.

At the First Congress of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, the initiative of the Day of Spiritual Harmony found wide support. Since 2017, representatives of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly have repeatedly taken part in the celebration of this Day in Kazakhstan.

This year, it was decided to hold the International Action "Day of Spiritual Harmony of the Eurasian Peoples 'Assembly" and celebrate it annually with the involvement of partners and friends of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.

The moderator of the round table was Svetlana Smirnova, First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly. Tolegen Mukhamedzhanov (Kazakhstan), Wilhelm Augustat (Austria), Mary Fischer (India) addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

Among the speakers were the heads of the representative offices of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, representatives of the scientific community, various religions and confessions. The participants discussed issues of strengthening intercultural communications, cultural diplomacy, preservation and development of the spiritual culture of peoples, shared their practical experience in the implementation of humanitarian projects.

The Resolution, a final document of the Round Table, proposes:

  1. to promote in every possible way and confirm with specific public initiatives the traditions of the World Congress of Spiritual Harmony (1992 - Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan; 1993 - Rishikesh, India; 2003 - Moscow, Russia), as well as the World Forum of Spiritual Culture (2010 Astana, Kazakhstan), aimed at strengthening international humanitarian dialogue, respecting the rights of all peoples to peace, friendship and cooperation;
  2. to contribute to the promotion of spiritual culture as the basis of inter-human relations and international cooperation;
  3. to expand inter-religious and inter-confessional dialogue in order to achieve spiritual harmony based on traditional universal human values;
  4. to search for effective mechanisms for organizing the world community, systems of upbringing and education, focused on spiritual and moral values and the traditional culture of peoples;
  5. to welcome and in every possible way support the traditions of charity, mercy and compassion, attention to childhood and orphanhood, old age and loneliness, sick and needy;
  6. to involve scientific and educational communities in activities to achieve spiritual harmony and contribute to the strengthening of humanitarian values.
  7. to strengthen spiritual and humanitarian principles in the minds of the younger generation through the implementation of cultural, scientific, sports, educational programs and projects of a spiritual and moral orientation.
