The “Memory Book. Romania” Project

June 22-23, 2021, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow - the Day of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, a partner and member of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Yurius Traksyalis (Military Heritage Institute, Lithuania) in Bucharest and Constanta (Romania) organized and held a presentation of the project “Book of Memory. Romania” and a photo exhibition dedicated to this international humanitarian project.

The participants of the events in Romania were sent video message of the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrei Belyaninov and the Chairman of the Board of the International Public Fund "Russian Peace Foundation" Leonid Slutsky, as well as a written appeal from the Head of the Department of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Valery Kudinsky on perpetuating the memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland.

The leaders of Romanian public organizations and veterans of the Romanian People's Army, members of the Warsaw Pact Organization asked to continue this project and to publish in paper and electronic form a Book of memory of memorials to all soldiers of the anti-Hitler coalition and victims of fascism on the territory of Romania in Russian, Romanian and English languages ​​as part of the international humanitarian project of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly "Immortal memory: memorials and monuments."

On June 21, 2021, at the Memorial in Bucharest, where Soviet soldiers who gave their lives for the liberation of Europe from fascism during World War II are buried  a mourning ceremony was held in memory of those who died during the Great Patriotic War  as part of the patriotic action "Candle of Memory". The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Romania V.I. Kuzmin, representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in Romania M.V. Davydov, military attaché V.L. Makovsky, scientific director of the Institute of Globalization Problems M.G. Delyagin, representative of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Y. Trakshelis, as well as diplomats of the Embassy, ​​representatives of the Association of Romanian-Russian Friendship and compatriots.

On June 22, 2021, in connection with the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Herastrau Memorial in Bucharest in memory of the Red Army soldiers who died in Romania during the Second World War. The national anthems of Russia and Romania, as well as of the CIS countries participating in the event, were performed. Wreaths were laid from the diplomatic corps: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, - the representative office of the Russian Ministry of Defense for organizing and conducting military memorial work abroad, from representatives of the local community, Russian and Romanian business circles, organizations of compatriots and from teachers and students of the school at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Romania.
