On May 28, 2021, more than 20 new icons indicating planted trees around the world appeared on the map of the "Garden of Memory" within the International Public Action "Garden of Peace".

The Action is carried out with the support of the UN Information Centre in Moscow and the Russian office of the Environment Program (UNEP).

The organizers of the International Public Action "Garden of Peace" are the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly and its partners. The Action’s goal is to unite humanity for the sake of peace and sustainable development on the planet. The motto of the Action is “Keep the World - Plant a Tree - Save the Planet”.

The Action "Garden of Peace" was launched on April 25, 2021, on the anniversary of the historic meeting on the Elbe of the allied - Soviet and American - troops in 1945.

On April 25, 2021, Russian and American public figures and diplomats planted trees at the Spirit of the Elbe memorial on Poklonnaya Gora, recalling the significance of the historic meeting on the Elbe in 1945. There was a broadcast of tree planting from Washington, Miami, Limassol, Vilnius, Kiev, Dushanbe, Sevastopol and other cities.

On the same day, young environmentalists of the Department for Youth Cooperation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly supported the International Public Action “Garden of Peace”.

On the territory of the "City Farm" at VDNKh, 25 apple trees were planted, a commemorative plaque was installed and a "Time Capsule" was laid with a message to 2030. This year was proclaimed by the UN as the year of completion of the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration.

During the month from April 25 to May 25, about 3000 trees were planted in more than 20 countries: Russia, USA, China, India, Canada, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Cyprus, Moldova, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria and others.

Apple trees, firs, palms, oaks, maples and even eucalyptus planted in Eurasia and North America have become symbols of the International Public Action "Garden of Peace".

One of the last plantings of trees of the International Action "Garden of Peace" took place on May 21, 2021, on the Day of Cultural Diversity in the Name of Dialogue and Development, in Yekaterinburg in the “Druzhba Narodov” park.

Secretary General of the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations “Eurasian Peoples' Assembly” Andrey Belyaninov, together with the Head of Yekaterinburg Alexey Orlov, Chairman of the Yekaterinburg City Duma Igor Volodin and representatives of national organizations of the Ural capital supported the International Action and planted 20 apple trees.

“We continue the International Public Action “Garden of Peace”, - commented Andrey Belyaninov. “These trees symbolize that peace on earth, for the sake of which our ancestors fell, can only be established together, by the whole world. We honour war veterans and express our concern for preserving the historical memory of the results of World War II. At the same time contribute to the fight against climate change and protection of environment."

The next action will take place on June 22, the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow. Everyone can join the International Public Action "Garden of Peace".
