II BRICS+ International Youth Forum “Sports Diplomacy” gathered Participants from 57 Countries

On September 24, 2024, the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba hosted the II BRICS+ International Youth Forum “Sports Diplomacy: Contours of a Multipolar World”.

“The Eurasian and African Peoples’ Assembly expresses its readiness to help promote sports diplomacy in the international youth agenda, as well as to contribute to the personal and professional growth of the youth of the BRICS countries,” -  said Svetlana Smirnova, Chairperson of the General Council, First Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian and African Peoples’ Assembly, member of the Presidential Council on Interethnic Relations of the Russian Federation, in her greeting to the forum participants.

The 2nd BRICS+ International Youth Forum “Sports Diplomacy: Contours of a Multipolar World” gathered over 300 youth representatives from 57 countries of the world.

The choice of the venue for the II BRICS+ International Youth Forum “Sports Diplomacy: Contours of the Multipolar World” is not accidental, as the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba has always been a symbol of people's diplomacy.

The BRICS Youth Media Platform, an electronic communication platform for education, culture, sports, science and volunteering, was presented at the forum. The content on this platform has already been authored by young people from many countries around the world.

The 2nd BRICS+ International Youth Forum “Sports Diplomacy: Contours of a Multipolar World” aroused great interest not only among young people, but also among prominent public and political figures of our country.

According to Anna Subbotina, President of the ANO “Commonwealth of Sports Diplomacy”, Head of the Youth Cooperation Directorate of the Eurasian and African Peoples’ Assembly, the youth of the BRICS countries are interested in a dialogue between young sports leaders, researchers, heads of sports organizations, athletes, specialists in international relations, as well as sports enthusiasts.

Anna Subbotina believes that new formats of sports competitions and festivals of the BRICS countries will also be in demand, such as the Eurasiada Games (a project of the Eurasian and African Peoples’ Assembly).
