The Headquarters of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly hosted the First Meeting of the Coordinating Committee of the Representative Offices of the Assembly

On March 11, the first meeting of the Coordinating Committee of the Representative Offices of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly was held at the headquarters of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in Moscow (Russia).

The meeting was attended by the Heads of the Representative Offices of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, Deputy Secretaries General, employees of the General Secretariat.

The meeting’s main topic of the agenda was the discussing of tasks and prospects for the development of Representative Offices for 2022.

The Coordinating Committee of the Representations was headed by the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrey Belyaninov. Opening the meeting, he said:

“Each of you has interesting proposals and initiatives. One of the tasks is to acquaint each other with such initiatives. And if your activists and experts can join each other's projects, support them organizationally, then, there will be an opportunity to expand the projects’ geography and make them more sustainable.”

Director of the SCO Public Diplomacy Center in Uzbekistan Kabuljon Sobirov informed the audience about the implementation of the project on Uzbekistan's participation in international relations. The project is implemented with the support of the Gorchakov Foundation and will take place in Tashkent.

Tokon Mamytov (Kyrgyz Republic), Deputy Secretary General of the Assembly, informed the audience about the initiative to establish the Eurasian Center.

Elmira Samokhina, Head of the Representative Office of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in the Sverdlovsk Region (Russia), introduced the projects dedicated to the Days of Slavic Literature and Culture.

Didier Chaudesaugues, Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly (France), told the committee members about the project dedicated to the pilots of the Normandie-Niemen squadron.

The participants of the meeting urged the activists of the Representative Offices to support the ongoing projects and take part in them.

The First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Svetlana Smirnova drew the attention of the participants to the dates that should be paid attention to when planning the activities of Representative Offices. Thus, 2022 was declared the Year of Folk Art and Cultural Heritage of the CIS countries. Representatives of the CIS countries, the IPA CIS Secretariat, the Interstate Foundation for Humanitarian Cooperation and the Commonwealth Executive Committee proposed to include in the plan more than a hundred humanitarian events dedicated to the declared theme of this year.
