Give Books, Read Books - and the World will become Better and Brighter

Today, on February 14, the world celebrates International Book Giving Day. This Day unites everyone who donates books and instils a love of reading.

The Eurasian Peoples' Assembly is the initiator of the publication of books in the “Library of the Eurasian Peoples” series. Books are usually published in three languages - the original language, Russian and English. The series was opened by the collection of poems “Zamurzanye Opanki”, a poetic picture of the past and modern Serbian south. The Assembly's library is replenished with new copies, and the Assembly is happy to donate these books to its friends and partners.

On the International Book Donation Day, we asked for a comment from a member of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, writer, researcher, philosopher Andrei Yavny:

- As you know, culture, science and education are the main areas and at the same time technologies that shape the potential of the human person. The book goes through all life and is one of the meanings of a person's self-determination when he comes into contact with sources. Reading has solved a number of global problems and self-educational programs of a person. At the same time, unfortunately, today we can say that this skill is being lost along with the weakening of humanitarian ties.

Technology is developing so rapidly that people feel confused, unable to adapt to these changes. Technological advances are not new, but the current transformation is unprecedented in speed and depth. Today, technological change leads to three important negative consequences for humans: information overload, growing choices and growing uncertainty, and loss of privacy.

When content is consumed constantly, the part of the brain associated with thinking goes into hibernation (or even does not form in the process of a person growing up that goes up to 25 years). It takes 23 minutes (without interruption) for the brain to start thinking seriously and polls show that a person comes off the phone every 15 minutes; he doesn't have time to concentrate to start thinking. This leads to digital autism, note a number of international researchers, including Ray Dalio, Jacob Frenkel, Andrei Kurpatov. A decrease in the functionality of the brain leads to the fact that the vision of the future stops working, a person loses the ability to think about what to do, how to act, to build images of the future.

The most natural healing tools for digital autism are books and reading. Reading books activates specific areas of the brain, helping to develop critical thinking, willpower, and personal opinion.

Give each other interesting books, read, and the world will become better and brighter!
