The Eurasian Peoples' Assembly took part in the Russia-Belarus Forum "Frontiers of the Union State"

On October 4-5, 2022, the Forum on Security and Cooperation between Russia and Belarus "Frontiers of the Union State" was held in Svetlogorsk, Kaliningrad Region (Russia).

Leading experts and prominent scientists, deputies, representatives of business and civil society of Russia and Belarus discussed the future of the Union State in the view of the formation of a new architecture of the world order.

Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin addressed the forum participants with a video greeting.

“Our countries independently determine their own priorities and the vector of their development. We will continue to respect the historical memory and follow the moral guidelines of our peoples. I am sure that the Union State has a great future in the emerging multipolar international architecture. It will become a center of attraction for like-minded people,” - the Prime Minister concluded.

In his speech, Secretary General of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev emphasized that relations between Russia and Belarus are built on the unshakable principles of mutual support, good neighborliness and friendship. He also paid special attention to the fact that the Russian-Belarusian unity has stood the test of time, the model of interaction between the countries is oriented towards the future, and new points of growth have been identified.

Governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov, addressing the forum participants, noted that Russia and Belarus are the closest allies, strategic partners, who are united by a common history, spiritual values ​​and a common future. Anton Alikhanov also outlined the special role of non-governmental organizations that should contribute to addressing issues on the global agenda.

During the discussion “The Union State as the core of integration in Greater Eurasia: the contribution of the regions of Russia and Belarus”, the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Andrei Belyaninov stated the need to find new ways of interaction, while, for its part, the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly is ready to provide a platform for developing expert opinions, discussion of the prospects for cooperation in the Eurasian space, which is the core of rapprochement between peoples and countries. Andrey Belyaninov also spoke about the mega-project of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly "Immortal Memory", the purpose of which is to preserve historical memory in the face of new challenges and promote the idea of ​​the absence of national borders.

The delegation of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly included Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Yulia Petrova, chief specialist of the Department for Sustainable Development of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Alana Kochieva, who took an active part in the session “Socio-humanitarian aspects of security: common priorities of Russia and Belarus” and in the round table "Civil Society as the Foundation of Effective Statehood: Current Experience of Russia and Belarus".

As a result of the forum, agreements were reached on cooperation between the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly and the Association for Foreign Policy Research named after. A.A. Gromyko, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (IKBFU), Republican public association "Belaya Rus" and others.

Based on the results of the work, a resolution of the forum was adopted, reflecting the coordinated approaches of the expert and scientific community of Russia and Belarus to strengthening bilateral integration within the Union State. Also, on the sidelines of the forum, a decision was made to organize the Baltic Platform, which is designed to become an authoritative, international and expert platform.
