The Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly put forward an Initiative to create the Eurasian Postal Union

It is proposed to create a Eurasian Postal Union, which will play a significant role in the social and economic development of the Eurasian continent. This was announced by the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrey Belyaninov at the round table "Eurasian Postal Union".

The event was held today, December 22, at the headquarters of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in Moscow (Russia). Representatives of the postal organizations of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as the banking sector and the Federal Customs Service of Russia took part in the round table.

The meeting discussed the problems of ensuring the free movement of postal items on the territory of Eurasia, ways of organizing and improving postal communications on the Eurasian continent.

During the discussion, Andrey Belyaninov came up with an initiative to establish the Eurasian Postal Union, which will be designed to stimulate the sustainable development of high-quality, efficient and affordable postal services in order to facilitate communication between the countries of Eurasia, including guaranteeing the free circulation of postal items within a single postal territory and ensuring fair common standards of cooperation.

The round table speakers: Georgy Alikoshvili, Deputy General Director for Commercial Activities of Russian Post JSC (Russia); Elena Drozdovich, Deputy General Director for Operations, RUE Belpochta (Belarus); Dmitry Zhukov, Head of the Main Department for the Organization of Customs Clearance and Customs Control (Russia); Alireza Jafari, Director of Representative Office of the Chamber of Cooperatives of Iran (Iran); Nikita Zhukov, Head of the Sales Department with the participation of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region for land crossings of PJSC TransContainer (Russia); Marat Cherikchiev, Chairman of the Board of Kyrgyz Post OJSC (Kyrgyzstan), Alexey Kharlanov, Doctor of Economics, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of World Economy of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (Russia), and others.

Georgy Alikoshvili, Deputy General Director for Commercial Activities of Russian Post JSC, spoke about the relevance of the agenda:

“This is a very important meeting on New Year's Eve, and I hope that this undertaking will be successfully continued. I would like to note that there are strong ties between Russia and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union: financial, cultural, social, and one of the most important areas of cooperation is the postal service.”

Deputy General Director for Operations of RUE “Belpochta” Elena Drozdovich noted:

“We need to coordinate and secure the postal supply chain. We need to create a platform for the development of the postal business, and I urge everyone to this work.”

Director of Representative Office of the Chamber of Cooperatives of Iran Alireza Jafari emphasized in his speech:

“98 companies participate in the Chamber of Cooperatives of Iran, and thanks to the assistance of Iran Post, we are ready to support the establishment of the Eurasian Postal Union.”

“Supporting your initiative to establish the Eurasian Postal Union, we are ready to present our platform for demonstrating logistics, movement of goods, orders at the next meeting,” commented Danil Ibraev, Chairman of the Presidium - President of the EAEU Business Council.

Zarina Umetalieva, a political observer for the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Corporation (NTRC), expressed the idea of creating a Eurasian Media Holding:

“Recently, we held a media forum, its main purpose was to create a single information space on the Eurasian continent, and within this forum, the idea of establishing a Eurasian Media Holding was announced. There must be high-quality information support, then all projects will be successfully implemented.”

Marina Volkova, Head of the Happiness Department of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, spoke about “Letters of Happiness” Project and became the initiator of supporting the distribution of letters on the Eurasian continent:

“That year we launched the International Action “Letters of Happiness”. More than 10,000 children's pictures have been distributed around the world. The only problem we faced was the logistics. Only thanks to the support of the post offices on the Eurasian continent, we will be able to take this action to a new level.”
