The delegation of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly represented by the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Andrey Belyaninov, Deputy Secretary General Yulia Petrova and Head of the Office of the Secretary General Anton Martynyuk took part in the International Economic Forum of Russia and the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) countries “Russia – Islamic World KAZANFORUM 2023”. The forum was held from 17 to 19 May at the Kazan Expo IEC.

On the establishing a working group on creation of a Eurasian mission in the format of UNESCO

On May 17, the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrey Belyaninov made a presentation at the Panel Discussion "The Role of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in the Sustainable Development of Regions". He proposed establishing a working group to create a Eurasian mission in the format of UNESCO.

“We came up with the initiative to create a Eurasian Mission, a Eurasian Bureau in the format of UNESCO. Let's look at this idea again. I propose here, in the Republic of Tatarstan, to create a working group to implement this idea. It looks like it will be great. And the Republic of Tatarstan is a very attractive region for Islam,” Andrey Belyaninov said.

The Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly noted that "culture, economy, education and science contribute to the creation of stronger ties between people and nations through mutual understanding and mutual respect" and spoke about the role of the Assembly in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention.

On the formation of the Eurasian Direct Investment Fund and the need to build direct relations between newly emerging investment funds and banks with national banks

Investment funds and banks that will be formed in the near future should establish direct relations with national banks. This was stated by the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrey Belyaninov on May 18 during his participation in the business breakfast "International trends in foreign direct investment: the role of Russia and the OIC countries". According to him, such interaction will speed up work processes and get rid of unnecessary delays.

“Those investment banks and funds that will be formed, and I also think that it will be absolutely fair to form the Eurasian Direct Investment Fund, can and should establish direct relations with national banks. This will significantly reduce the time for bureaucratic procedures,” he said.

The business breakfast focused on recent developments in foreign direct investment between the Arab States, Russia and the CIS, as well as accelerating the achievement of sustainable investment in countries.

On the establishment of a special bank for settlements in national currencies during the implementation of the project "North-South International Transport Corridor"

On the same day, the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly took part in a thematic section devoted to the development of the “North-South International Transport Corridor”.

The “North-South Transport Corridor” is the largest geopolitical and geo-economic infrastructure project of the current decade. The project involves the creation of the largest transport highway with a length of 6,000 to 8,000 km, which connects the European part of Russia and access to the Persian Gulf.

“It is an integral part of the process of establishing a multipolar world, a deep, fundamental trend in the transfer of economic activity to the south and southeast. This is a promising area that will continue to develop in the future,” said First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov during the event.

On interaction with the countries of the Islamic world

On May 19, Deputy Secretary General Yulia Petrova took part in the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group. The session was devoted to the issues of interreligious cooperation based on traditional spiritual and moral values.

“All areas of work in the group coincide with the areas of activity of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly. We discussed interaction with the countries of the Islamic world with representatives of the patriarchy. I would say that this is a productive trip that has specific plans for further cooperation and implementation of international projects,” Yulia Igorevna emphasized, summing up the participation of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly in the International Economic Forum of Russia and the OIC countries “Russia – Islamic World KAZANFORUM 2023”.

On the signing of the Agreement between the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly and Kazan Federal University

Also, following the results of participation in the Forum, the signing of an Agreement between the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly and Kazan Federal University is expected. The flagship project of cooperation will be the creation of an international platform-aggregator of universities that train specialists in the field of cultural heritage management. The platform will also be aimed at forming an expert community to develop mechanisms for supporting and regulating this area.

During the Forum, a meeting was held with Boris Ozerov (Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation). The meeting reached agreements on formats for further cooperation with African countries and beyond.

Trends in the development of international education were discussed with the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan Ramil Khairullin.
