The Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan Andrey Nazarov took part in the meeting of the Coordinating Committee of the Representative Offices of the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "Eurasian Peoples' Assembly".
In particular, the meeting discussed the prospects for holding in 2023 in the republic the largest international sports forum “Towards the Eurasiada” and the conclusion of twinning agreements between the cities of Bashkortostan and the Republic of India.
“This year, Bashkortostan will become a venue for the “Towards the Eurasiada” forum. It will bring together athletes, coaches, mentors, fans and people from many regions of Russia, Asian countries and other friendly states who are simply not indifferent to sports. Competitions in national and non-Olympic sports will be held on the sidelines of the forum, while experts will discuss achievements and best practices in the development of Russian and international sports at the business section. The Republic is ready to host such competitions, and they will be held at the highest organizational level,” Andrey Nazarov said.
The Prime Minister proposed to hold the “Towards Eurasiada” forum from August 24 to 27, 2023, opening the Decade of Eurasian Sports in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The end of the decade will be the International Ufa Marathon, which brought together more than five thousand participants last year.
The meeting also discussed the participation of representatives of Bashkortostan in the Days of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly in the Republic of India, in Delhi, where emphasis will be placed on supporting inter-municipal diplomacy, which is especially relevant in the current geopolitical agenda.
“A proposal was received from the Headquarters of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly to sign a sister city agreement between the cities of India and Bashkortostan. Of course, we have taken this proposal very positively. As a twin city of Bashkortostan for a city in India, we propose to consider the capital of our republic - the city of Ufa. It is important to time the signing of the sister city agreement to coincide with the 450th anniversary of the capital,” said Andrey Nazarov.
Today Ufa already has ten sister cities in Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, China.
“I believe that such cooperation with India will strengthen friendly ties and mutual understanding between our peoples, enhance cultural interaction and exchange of experience in solving various issues,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
The Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrey Belyaninov supported Andrey Nazarov's proposals and expressed confidence that all the planned events would be useful not only to the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, but also to the republic, which would be able to demonstrate its cultural, economic and tourism potential to interregional and international partners.
Andrey Belyaninov noted the special merits of Bashkortostan in promoting the ideas and values of Eurasian integration the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly guide.
“The Republic is implementing a lot of initiatives aimed at strengthening friendship, harmony and good neighborliness between peoples. Bashkortostan can be safely called an exemplary region of our association,” he said.
