Central Asia Sustainable Development Forum - 2021: Results

On November 11-12, 2021, the Kyrgyz Republic hosted the Central Asia Sustainable Development Forum - 2021.

The main topics of the Forum are discussion of the results of the UN Food Systems Summit (September 23, 2021) and the participation of Kyrgyzstan and the countries of Central Asia in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The work of the forum was preceded by the Days of Youth Initiatives.

The Council of Young Scientists of the Kyrgyz State Technical University held a Foresight session "10 steps to the world of harmony and prosperity (2021-2030), starting the countdown." The session was opened by Irina Mukhina, a representative of the USA and Canada, financial and management consultant to TNC North America. In her speech, she gave a description of the new world emerging as a result of digitalization, technocratization and other processes that affect the formation of a new person and his value orientations. This report laid the foundation for a serious discussion that unfolded in the Great Assembly Hall of the University. Students and teachers spoke about the meaning of life, a person's place on the planet, the role of the family in society, the quality of education and other pressing issues of our time.

On the site of the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K.I. Skryabin, the Foresight session "New World - World without Hunger" was held. The participants discussed reports on the topics “Poverty and hungry population - indicators of food security in the world and Kyrgyzstan”, “The role of agricultural education for the country's food security”, “Food security and nutrition in the era of climate change” and others.

At the site of the Youth Scientific Battle “Energy of the Future. What will win?" students discussed the theme “Ensuring universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all”. The battle participants were divided into three teams. The first advocated classical hydrocarbon energy as a non-alternative energy from the point of view of a combination of three parameters: efficiency, safety and availability. The second team defended carbon-free energy as the safest in terms of protecting the environment. The third stood for the protection of nuclear energy as the most effective in modern conditions of scientific and technological progress.

On the first day of the Central Asia Sustainable Development Forum - 2021, November 11, a plenary session “Our way - achieving sustainable development goals” was held. The online headquarters of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in Moscow was connected to its work. The plenary session was opened by the First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Svetlana Smirnova, Rector of the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. I. Razzakova Mirlan Chynybaev and Vice-Rector of the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K.I. Scriabina Tyrgoot Chortonbaev. Representatives of India, Germany, Russia and other countries of Eurasia made reports.

On the second day of the Forum, November 12, sessions on the following topics were held at different venues in Bishkek:

  • Improving the quality of food products is the key to health and longevity
  • Problems and ways to improve the quality of products of the light and textile industries
  • Sustainable development of the agro-industry - the path to the world of harmony
  • Spiritual and moral development and high culture are the basis for sustainable development of society, human health and well-being
  • Modern and high-quality education throughout life

The Central Asia Sustainable Development Forum - 2021 ended with the Plenary Session "Total Quality Management - Status and Prospects". The participants were welcomed by the President of the Serbian Association for Quality Management SRMEK, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 64th International Quality Congress in Belgrade Lojanica Jova. He recalled that the next 65th International Quality Congress will be held for the first time in Russia, in Moscow.

In conclusion, the participants discussed the draft Resolution of the Central Asia Sustainable Development Forum - 2021. The vast majority of the initiatives put forward were approved and included in the final document, which will be sent to the UN and the governments of the countries participating in the Forum.
