For the Birthday of Chingiz Aitmatov: "The Great Son of Eurasia"

On December 17, the International Conference "The Great Son of Eurasia" dedicated to the birthday of Chingiz Aitmatov was held at the initiative of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic to Russia. Representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of public organizations, cultural figures, writers, those who personally knew the great writer of our time gathered in the Council Hall of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.

The organizers were the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Russia, the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, the International Center for the Rapprochement of Cultures under the auspices of UNESCO (category 2) (Kazakhstan) and the Civic Chamber Commission for Harmonization of Interethnic and Interreligious Relations.

The purpose of the conference is to strengthen international cultural cooperation, to promote the preservation and comprehension of the creative and humanistic heritage of Chingiz Aitmatov in the Eurasian space.

The conference participants were greeted by Vladimir ZORIN, Chairman of the Commission of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation for the Harmonization of Interethnic and Interreligious Relations, First Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Assembly of Peoples of Russia, member of the Presidium of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Interethnic Relations; Gulnara-Klara SAMAT, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Russian Federation; Andrey BELYANINOV, Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.

The international meeting was moderated by Svetlana SMIRNOVA, First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, Chairman of the Council of the Assembly of peoples of Russia, member of the Council for Interethnic Relations under the President of the Russian Federation.

Film director Grigory NAHAPETOV, winner of the "Victorious Together" festival, spoke about a series of documentaries about Chingiz Aitmatov. Participants were able to see the trailer for the new film "Days and Centuries of Chingiz Aitmatov".

Olzhas SULEYMENOV, People's Writer of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Co-Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, Director of the International Center for the Rapprochement of Cultures under the auspices of UNESCO (category 2); Andrey ZOLOTOV, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Arts; Musa MURATALIEV, writer, translator, journalist, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation; Nadyrbek ALYMBEKOV, People's Poet of Kyrgyzstan, ex-chairman of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan, recalled personal meetings with Chingiz Aitmatov and joint creative work.

Why is Chingiz Aitmatov the son of Eurasia? Maksatbek GAPYROV, Advisor to the President of the All-Russian Kyrgyz Congress, head of the Early Cranes literary club, tried to answer this question in his speech.

Pavel KUZMIN, General Director of the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature named after V.I. M.I. Rudomino, supported the proposal of the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to hold in Moscow in 2022 the next meeting of the Issyk-Kul Forum, created on the initiative of Chingiz Aitmatov.

Valery RUZIN, Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, President of the Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio; Akhmed ABULOV, poet, publicist, laureate of the Lomonosov Prize; Zhenishgul KHULKHACHIEVA, Head of the Chingiz Aitmatov Center for Kyrgyz Language and Literature, Moscow State Linguistic University; Vladimir SHMAKOV, Candidate of Philosophy, Professor of the Department of General Sociology of Moscow State University, continued the conversation about Chingiz Aitmatov as a man with a capital letter, a humanist writer who, through the artistic images he created, deeply affects the feelings and thoughts of his contemporaries.

To support and protect the Russian language in the countries of Central Asia, Chingiz Aitmatov created the International Foundation "Dialogue without Borders". Today the activities of this organization are extremely relevant. Farhod USTAJALILOV, President of the International Foundation "Dialogue without Borders", spoke about this.

Tamila MAMATOVA, artist-sculptor, laureate of the State Youth Prize named after Chingiz Aitmatov, member of the Union of Artists of Kyrgyzstan, participant of the "Marble Mile" project, recalled her graduation work - a three-meter sculpture of Chingiz Aitmatov.

Rakhima ABDUVALIEVA, founder of the Chingiz Aitmatov Academy in London, Professor, Doctor of Philological Sciences, translator, author of the book “Chingiz Aitmatov” in English, joined the conversation From London.

A sincere and interested conversation continued for three and a half hours. Chingiz Aitmatov, who wrote in two languages ​​- Kyrgyz and Russian, united not only the Eurasian literary space with his work. His books, imbued with images and legends of his people, have become close and understandable to 180 peoples of the world, into whose languages ​​they have been translated. Brought up on the moral values ​​of his native national culture, the writer managed to give them a worldwide sound. And this is his great feat and great peacekeeping mission. Chingiz Torekulovich's wish "To be a man today, tomorrow and always" is outside of time and outside of borders, it applies to people of the whole world, to every person on planet Earth.
