Bashkir Athletes won Prizes at the Grappling Championship

The Representation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russia) informs that 238 grapplers from 9 federal districts and 35 regions of the Russian Federation took part in the Russian Grappling Wrestling Championship in the Chechen Republic, in Shali, on December 24-27.

9 people from The Republic of Bashkortostan was represented by 9 participants, 6 of them won prizes:

  • 2nd place - Yana-Shorokhova (qualified for the European Championship, which will be held in Poland in April 2021)
  • 2nd place - Artyom Shalkov (fulfilled the Master of Sports standard)
  • 3rd place - Shamil Yamilov
  • 3rd place - Dinara Seifullina
  • Two 3 places (no gi and gi) - Zarina Almukhamedova
  • Two 3 places (no gi and gi) - Amirkhan Gudanatov

Grappling development in the Republic of Bashkortostan

The Grappling Federation has been actively developing since 2011. In 2013 it received the status of a legal entity. In the period from 2011-2015, about 5 competitions were held per year. More than 800 children, adolescents, youth participated in the competitions. Since 2016, grappling has been included in the disciplines of wrestling.

The objectives of the events are to improve the system of civil-patriotic education of young people, as well as the all-round development and improvement of children and adolescents.

Since 2016, 10 events are held every year with more than 2000 participants. In 2016, the Bashkir team took the 2nd and 3rd team places at the Russian Championship in grappling gi and grappling no gi.

More than 2000 athletes are involved in the “grappling” discipline in the Republic of Bashkortostan. There are branches of Grappling Federation in 22 cities and regions of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
