Andrey Belyaninov met with the Author of the Project "Panfilovites: Our Pride, Our Glory"

On July 2, in Almaty (Kazakhstan), the General Secretary of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrei Belyaninov met with a member of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of Al-Farabi  Kazakhstan National University Laila Akhmetova.

The main issue of the meeting was the implementation of the project "Panfilovites: Our Pride, Our Glory", supported by the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly. The author and project manager is Laila Akhmetova. In particular, they discussed the creation of a website for the Panfilov Division and the International Association of Descendants and Friends of the 316th Rifle Division - the 8th Guards Rifle Division.

Professor Akhmetova spoke about her vision of the site, uniting the descendants and friends of the division. She explained that there are materials for the site: this is the first composition of the 316th rifle division and its replenishments by months and years of war. The information are collected on the basis of work in the archives of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, materials of the “Memorial” OBS, collection of documents and memories from descendants.

Thus, in the future, a new format of work in the Internet will be created on military formations. There will be an opportunity to name each soldier and commander of the Great Patriotic War by name.

Topics of common history of the twentieth century, transparency and points of convergence in the joint discussion and preparation of monographs, books, textbooks, history manuals, accessibility and openness of archives of all countries of the Eurasian continent were discussed during the meeting.

Laila Akhmetova told that the Commission for Rehabilitation works in Kazakhstan, she shared her experience of working with information about prisoners of war and other categories of citizens who were repressed in the first third and in the middle of the twentieth century in Kazakhstan.

They touched upon the issue of media education and work on joint projects on this topic, in which Russia, Kazakhstan and other countries participated.

Professor Akhmetova expressed gratitude to Andrey Belyaninov for the support of her undertakings and the meeting, which was fruitful and gave a new impetus to work on the most important topics of the history of the twentieth century.
