Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Andrey Belyaninov reminded the participants of the Assembly’s online event on the International Day of Peace about the significance of this date for the entire planet.

In particular, he said:

- Every year on the International Day of Peace, we met, discussed problems together, grieved together, and rejoiced together. At the end of our annual meetings there were always bells. They are still with us today, online. This is the dictate of time, let's get used to the new format of communication. I am sure that this will not affect the quality of our work.

This year, progressive humanity is celebrating a very serious date - the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War. It is an important event for the whole world. We try to make it as noticeable as possible not only to the older generation, but also to our young people, who, unfortunately, are not very well informed. One of the tasks today is to educate young people in the traditions of history, respect for the memory of the fallen. After all, 80 per cent of the world's population and 62 countries participated in the Second World War. About 65 million people died. The Earth has never suffered more losses so far, and God forbid it ever happens again.

This year the International Megaproject “VICTORIOUS TOGETHER - for Peace and Creation” started on our initiative. We hope that it will be of interest and continue. In particular, we were co-organizers of the XVI Sevastopol International Festival of Documentaries and TV Programs “VICTORIOUS TOGETHER”. It is a great part of our daily work and international life in general. It is a pity, of course, that the meeting and the announcement of the results of the jury were held partially in absentia. By the way, an Italian film was awarded the main prize. In my opinion, this shows that the work of the jury was extremely objective.

Today we celebrate the International Day of Peace. It is very important for us. We must admit that we are now in a smaller number than we were at least a year ago. Let's adapt to modern conditions as quickly as possible, and let's think about how to make this significant event - the International Day of Peace - a truly global event. The Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly will always be near and will always be the most active participant in this significant day for the whole planet.
