The Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrey Belyaninov proposed organizing a working group to create a Eurasian mission in the format of UNESCO.

He stated this on May 17 at the panel discussion "The Role of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in the Sustainable Development of Regions" within the XIV International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2023".

“We came up with the initiative to create a Eurasian mission, a Eurasian bureau in the format of UNESCO. Let's look at this idea again. I propose here, in the Republic of Tatarstan, to create a working group to implement this idea. It looks like it will be a great thing. And the Republic of Tatarstan is such an attractive region for Islam,” Andrey Belyaninov said.

Recall that in December 2022, at the International Forum for the 50th Anniversary of the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, Andrey Belyaninov said for the first time that the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly proposes to create a Eurasian UNESCO, which, among other things, will conduct an inventory of cultural and natural values.

The XIV International Economic Forum "Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2023" is being held on May 18-20, 2023 at the Kazan Expo IEC.

The forum is attended by a delegation of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly consisting of the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Andrey Belyaninov, Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Yulia Petrova and Head of the Office of the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Anton Martynyuk.

In his speech at the panel discussion “The Role of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in the Sustainable Development of Regions”, Andrey Belyaninov also thanked international experts for participating in the forum and noted that “culture, economics, education and science contribute to the creation of stronger ties between people and nations through mutual understanding and mutual respect."

The speech also noted that "The Eurasian Peoples' Assembly has been actively cooperating with UNESCO for several years and pays special attention to issues of cultural diversity, education and science."
