International Commemorative Action on June 22

Every year on June 22, the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, supported by the Assembly of Peoples’ of Russia, holds an International Commemorative Action as a sign of respect for the famous and unknown heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

The purpose of the Action is to recall the historic day of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, to show that the memory of one of the most tragic pages in the history of the 20th century will forever remain in the hearts of people who lived together in a single country, went through all the hardships of a terrible war, survived and won. The eternal memory of those who died at the fronts, were tortured in captivity, died of wounds, hunger and deprivation - all who gave their lives for the Great Victory is stored in the hearts of the descendants. Together we can try not to let future generations forget at what cost the Great Victory was won!

At about 4 o'clock in the morning Moscow time, members, partners and friends of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly - participants in the Action light candles, lay flowers, read poems and sing songs from the times of the Great Patriotic War in their countries, cities and villages at memorials or monuments where war heroes are buried. The International Memorial Action on June 22 is part of the IMMORTAL MEMORY megaproject.
